The problem with problems

This week we read the book The problem with problems. The children talked about different problems they have had, how they felt and how they dealt or could deal with them. They went through some different scenarios and every opportunity we had through the week we addressed different problems as they arose. 

In maths we looked at weight, seeing which items are heavy and which are light, we guessed first then checked by holding them or by putting it on the scales. The children enjoyed comparing different toys.

In Forest school the children went for a walk around the school field and into the forest to look for signs of Spring, they found some flowers, new green leaves and some buds growing on branches. We talked about the season changing from Winter into Spring. 

In phonics the children enjoyed listening to a rhyming book and seeing if they could pick out the two rhyming words, they then looked at books in play to try and see what rhymed by the pictures.
