Week 6 Butterfly Bouquet

This week we read the story of My Butterfly Bouquet. We looked into the life cycle of a butterfly, how they start as one minibeast and form into another. We looked at their colours and their body parts, labelling and creating our own. 

In maths we looked at subitising, thinking about how we don't always need to count but can see an amount. We did a quick flashing power point that showed an amount of dots and disappeared. The children then had to say ho9w many they saw and not to count them. We practised this in the environment with dice. 

In Forest School we went on a minibeast hunt, there were lots of bugs hiding under logs and leaves. The children were fascinated by all the creatures we found and some were even brave enough to hold one.
