The Tiny seed

This week we read the story of The tiny seed, the children could choose to plant a sunflower seed and watch it grow over the next week or they could cut and stick the life cycle of a plant. We put the seeds in a plastic bag and with a wet paper towel and watched the roots grow and a stem form. The children took them home to plant and watch grow. In maths we looked at how to make up different numbers, like 4 being made up of 2 and 2 or 3 and 1.  The children used cubes to help them see how the numbers could be made. In phonics, they looked at rhyming books and completed a sheet finding the two words that rhyme together. They enjoyed exploring the letters of the alphabet hands on, seeing how they're formed and trying to write them themselves.
