Rainbow - Week 12 - Mr Gumpy's Outing
The Week Ahead
As we move into December, the countdown to Christmas has begun, and the children will be enjoying a range of festive crafts alongside their usual learning.
Our topic book will be Mr Gumpy’s Outing, and in Drawing Club, we’ll explore The Magic Porridge Pot. The children will be taking part in lots of discussions and activities based on these tales.
In Maths, we’ll be looking at simple patterns — exploring, copying, continuing, and creating our own. In Phonics, we will continue building upon phase 2, introducing three new phonemes: v, w and x.
During Forest School, the children will be collecting leaves to make Christmas wreaths, linking both to the season and our natural environment. In Religious Education, we will continue learning about the Nativity story, focusing this week on how Jesus was born in a stable and laid in a manger.
We are also placing a strong focus on name writing at the moment. The aim is for each child to be able to write their full name with all letters correctly formed. We have some special stickers ready for when each child achieves this, so do keep an eye out for them coming home. It would be really helpful if you could continue practising name writing at home as well.
