Rainbow - Week 3 - The Police
Our topic this week has been the Police. We started the week with having PSCOs Anne and Casey come to visit us, to talk to us about what the police do, how they keep us safe, and what we can do in an emergency. Please remind your child that we call 999 if there is an emergency, not 911 as this is American. This children loved being able to explore their car.
In Drawing Club we watched an Animation from the past 'Bananaman'.
Our focus in Maths was
In RE, we spoke about what we need to be able to live, such as food, water, a home, a job for our parents/carers, clothes. We spoke about how some people don't have these, and we discussed how we can help, like Jesus wants us to. We visited our school's food bank, and spoke about who is able to use it (everyone) and why.
In Expressive Arts and Design, we had a go at leaf and bark rubbing. Some children decided to use pine cones, and other objects they found outside to create different rubbings.
In Understanding the World, we looked at different images of transport through time. We discussed what was the same and what was different, and sorted the pictures into past and present.
In PE we practised different ways of moving and travelling the room. We then travelled different ways on the bench, which needed a little bit more skills to keep balanced, the children did very well
On Friday we celebrated the Jubilee Year, it happens every 25 years in the Catholic calendar. This year it is the year of hope. Our theme for the day was about the Holy Door, and we learnt that the Pope opens the door in Vatican City to mark the beginning of the Jubilee Year. We made door hangers and then a door out of clay.
