Rainbow - Week 8 - Jack and the Beanstalk

Our topic this week has been based on the book, Jack and the Beanstalk. We are planning on planting beans to watch them hopefully grow!

Drawing Club this week has been on the Little Red Hen. The children have really enjoyed this story.

In Maths we have been ordering numbers, and comparing them using our stem sentence '5 is more than ...' and '.... is more than ....'

In RE, we learnt about Shrove Tuesday and Ash Wednesday. We spoke about how people give up something for the season of Lent. The children shared what they would find difficult to give up. On Wednesday we went to a special Ash Wednesday mass.

In Expressive Arts and Design and Understanding the World, we have been talking about Spring,, and some children completed some beautiful observational drawings of some Spring flowers.

On Thursday, it was World Book Day. We celebrated by participating in lots of activities about books and reading. We had a Stay and Read with our grown ups, thank you to all who came and joined us. The classroom was buzzing, the children loved it. The children also read books with their buddies. Their buddy had also created a book for them to take home. We did a book character quiz, guessing a book character from a short description. At the end of the day, we had a mystery reader to share a story.

In PE, we have been practising dripping a ball around the hall, and then stopping it. The children did very well with this, and showed great listening skills!

On Friday, all of the reception girls took part in 'The Biggest Ever Football Session' in celebration of International Women's Day. #LetGirlsPlay
