Week 10 - Every House on Every Street

The Week Ahead

This week, our topic book will be In Every House In Every Street, and in Drawing Club we will be exploring the animation Trap Door. Throughout the week, the children will be using junk modelling materials to build their own houses and work together to create a model street linked to our topic.

In Phonics, we will be learning the sounds ‘b’, ‘f’, and ‘ff’. In Maths, we will be revisiting counting and focusing on its purpose — helping us find out “how many” and remembering the importance of the stopping number. We will also practise counting together beyond 20.

In RE, we will be learning about Mary and the angel, exploring the story of the angel visiting Mary to tell her she would be the mother of the Son of God, and thinking about angels as messengers.

On Wednesday, we will be taking an exciting trip to Stream Wood with our Year 5 buddies to explore nature in our local area.

A reminder that individual school photos will be taking place on Monday.

Sunshine Autumn 2 In Every House on Every Street

 How the week went

It has been a very cold week so we have had a little less time playing outside although we had a fun time walking around Streamwoods with our Year 5 Buddies on Wednesday afternoon. The children loved walking along the slippery log with the help of their Buddies and then being the ones to hold their Buddies hand as they walked along the log.

On Monday we made houses, I helped to cover the boxes but after that the children were independent and made some fabulous houses that we have made into Sunshine Street.

Most the children are confident recognising numerals up to 10 and most could build towers to match numerals up to 5. We have been practicing ordering numbers up to 20 and this has been a little more of a challenge.

The angels that we made in our Religious Education lesson have been used to make a Christmas display in the hall - you will get to see it when you come along to the Christmas Fayre on the 6th December.
