Week 8 - We're going on a Bear Hunt

The Week Ahead

We hope you all had a lovely half-term and are ready for a fun and busy few weeks ahead!

Our topic book this week is We’re Going on a Bear Hunt, and in Drawing Club, we’ll be diving into the story of The Three Little Pigs. In Phonics, we’ll be learning the sounds ‘e’ and ‘u’ while continuing to practise blending and segmenting words.

During Maths, we’ll be exploring the ideas of part and whole, learning how wholes can be made up of different parts that can be added, removed, or even seen within the whole itself. In RE, we’ll be reflecting on Remembrance Day, helping the children understand it as a time to say thank you to those who help keep us safe.

Our new topic for this half term is Our Local Area — we’ll be looking at photos of familiar places and using construction materials to create and build our own houses.

 How the week went

The children have come back enthusiastic and ready to learn. Thank you to all the parents who worked with their children over the holiday - we could see the difference.

The children loved our Bear Hunt around the grounds and Miss Harvey-Smith has very kindly used our photographs to make our very own Bear Hunt book.

We have made poppies which we plan to wear next week on Remembrance day.

Thank you to all the parents who came along to our Stay and Read on Thursday afternoon. Next week we will have a stay and build!
