Week 8 - We're going on a Bear Hunt

The Week Ahead

We hope you've all had a lovely half term. Our Theme for the next 6 weeks will be Our Community. We'll be thinking about our local area, the places we visit regularly and the things we see around us. 

Our topic book this week is We're Going on a Bear Hunt. We'll be thinking about the bear's journey and what he passed along the way. We'll also be thinking about our own journeys to school and what we pass on our way. 

In Phonics, we will be recapping our previously learnt sounds and learning our two new sounds: e and u. 

In our pen discos, our focus will be shifting from pre-writing shapes to letter formation, starting with s and a. Please make sure you're practising these at home. 

Our Drawing Club book this week is The Three Little Pigs. Previously, our drawing club sessions have been discussion-based, but we'll be moving to drawing and writing in our books this term. 

In maths, We'll be recapping our basic counting principles, practising counting to 5 and finding collections of 5 items. 

In RE, we begin our gradual build-up to Christmas starting by learning about Mary and understanding that God chose Mary for a very special role.
