Year 1C Summer Term

Week 7 Learning

- week commencing 3rd June 2024

English - Poetry

The poem which we are reading is 'A Dinosaur at the Bus Stop'. We have learned that asking questions can be used as a poetic technique.  In this poem, there are several questions asked.  We selected one of the questions and wrote this out.  We took turns to read our questions aloud to an audience, demonstrating expression and intonation.

Maths -

We learned that halving is the inverse of doubling.   We learned that we can calculate the sum of 'near-doubles' can be derived from both previous and next double; and that 'near-half' can be derived from both previous and next half.   We applied this knowledge to solve number problems.

Computers -

Online Safety Lesson - What is Email?  We explored how to use email safely as a form of communication.    We learned that email is an effective way of communicating.  We discussed what we should do if we receive an email from a stranger.

PE -

This week, we practised running races in preparation for the Whole School Sports Day.
