Catholic Life and Mission
“We are part of God's family. We follow the way of Jesus by loving, learning and doing our best.”
St Philip Howard is a living community based on the values of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and the teachings of the Catholic Church. We are a family whose members value and support each other through tolerance, understanding and mutual trust. We work to achieve this by:
- Providing a happy, caring and stimulating environment in which each child is enabled to develop his or her own true potential;
-A commitment, reinforced by our Christian belief, to high standards of education and performance in Religious Education, Maths, Science, English, I.C.T. and all other areas of the National Curriculum;
-Recognising the value of the commitment of both teaching and non-teaching staff, to our educational and -Christian values and enabling them to develop their talents to the full;
-Helping our children to grow in the love and knowledge of God by example, prayer, worship and the teaching of the Catholic belief;
-Insisting on standards of good behaviour based on sound moral values, leading to a growing sense of self-discipline in our children;
-Forging a partnership with the parents of our children through frequent contact between teachers, parents and governors and encouraging parents to become actively involved in the life of the school;
-Being an important focus for parish activities and taking an active part in the social and educational life of Hatfield;
-Promoting an awareness of the needs of people throughout the world and responding through our prayers and works of charity;
-Developing in our children an acceptance and appreciation of the other religions and cultures in our society.
We have also linked our school values; Belonging, Faith, Respect, Growth and Aiming High, to our mission statement.
